History of Paseo a Neighborhood in Fort Myers, FL

Until the 1980s, most of Paseo was undeveloped acreage and small farms. Development started in the late 1970s with a few homes on what is now Riverstone Parkway. The neighborhood grew from there slowly until 1983 when Collier Companies built 400 houses, making it one of Fort Myers’ largest residential developments to date at that time.

The second phase of development for Paseo – completed in 1986 – added another 149 residences on Buena Vista Boulevard.”

– One of the things they wanted to do was create a community where children, adults, retired persons, single parent families could enjoy life together without any unnecessary segregation. They made sure Paseo had sidewalks so kids didn’t have to play in the streets and supported homeowners associations so that everyone felt like his or her opinion mattered.

Today, there are over 1000 single-family homes in Paseo.
