In the 1800s, an orphanage (St Vincent’s) once operated on Church St., which now sits at the center of The Lanes community where it functions as a senior living facility for seniors with dementia and Parkinson’s Disease. At one time there were also active cherry orchards located along what is now Elm Street in this region that remains known locally as “cherry hill.”
Today, The Lanes is a diverse and welcoming community with tree-lined streets, active parks (Teddy Bear Park), neighborhood schools such as the Hunnewell School at Waltham’s Center for Early Education.
