West Lynn is one of the more popular neighborhoods in Lynn. It has a long history that originated with an 18th century mill site on the Saugus River, as well as some 19th-century textile mills and 20th-century industrial buildings. The neighborhood also includes historic homes from many different time periods including Federal Style, Victorian, Queen Anne Colonial Revival styles built between 1860 and 1900.
West Lynn was once known by residents from not only around New England but also across America for being an industrial powerhouse with its bustling mills during both the late 1800s and early 1900s that were textile manufacturing plants producing cotton duck cloth goods on the Saugus River.
Today, West Lynn has many historic homes and is home to a number of artists, musicians, designers, actors as well as working professionals. The neighborhood also includes ample space for public art installations and murals displaying the rich history of Boston.
