Sandy Hill is a neighborhood in Paterson, New Jersey. The area was initially settled by the Dutch and then developed into an industrial center during the Industrial Revolution. Sandy Hill has been home to many immigrant communities including Irish, German, Polish Jewish and Italian immigrants who came from Brooklyn.
In recent years it’s become more of a residential community with homeownership rates amongst some of the highest for all neighborhoods in NJ at over 70%. Home prices are also high as well due to lower crime rates than other areas in NJ like Camden or Newark but because taxes are so low (due to being located outside major municipal boundaries), residents can still afford their homes without needing very large incomes. With its proximity to highways 287 and 80 you will never spend much time in traffic and commuters can have it easy by living here.
