Caloosahatchee is a residential neighborhood in the western part of Cape Coral. The homes are mostly one story with lawns and driveways, but some taller three-story condos can also be found on this side of town.
Most families living here have children under 18 at home and Caloosahatchee has been ranked as one of the best neighborhoods for family life in Florida by AreaVibes.com due to its low crime rate, good schools and ample green space. A number of restaurants serving different types of cuisine from seafood to Thai food line up along Del Prado Boulevard which runs through Caloosahatchee’s center plus there are two nature preserves nearby that offer hiking trails for an escape into natural beauty:
*Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill – This is a family-friendly restaurant with American cuisine. Located on Del Prado Boulevard, it has outdoor seating and offers dine in or take out options.
*Bella Cucina Ristorante Italiano – Bella serves authentic Italian food that is always cooked fresh to order for your taste buds! Try their specialty dish of spaghetti primavera which includes a garden blend of vegetables and pasta topped with an imported olive oil infused with garlic, basil, oregano and red pepper flakes. The location is at 1414 Del Prado Blvd West Cape Coral FL 33904 (link)
*Caloosahatchee Nature Preserve – This preserve contains about 750 acres of diverse habitats, including scrubby flatwoods and pine forests. The preserve features one of the county’s few remaining stands of old growth lowland hardwood forest. Hiking trails are popular during hunting season in November because they provide excellent opportunities for bird watching.
*Cape Coral Beach – This beach is a beautiful white sand shoreline with emerald green water! You can swim or fish on this barrier island which offers plenty of parking spaces near its sandy shores plus there are bathrooms available at the entrance to the public beaches.
