Today it is most commonly known as being home to Rutgers University-Newark (RU-N) and Seton Hall Law School’s Newark campus on Main Street near downtown East Orange which continues with urban renewal projects underway in that part of town.
The South Mountain Reservation is located within this municipality; this large nature park offers hiking trails for visitors who want to enjoy some fresh air or take their dogs out for an exercise session together with area wildlife such as deer, coyotes, turtles, foxes and hawks.
