Totowa NJ is one of the largest municipalities in Union County and is located in Union County, New Jersey. Totowa is the largest borough in Passaic County and is located in north central New Jersey. The city was established in 1960 by the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). As of the 2020 US Census, the population of the borough was 10,814, representing an increase of 911 from the last census, which saw in turn a decline by 285 from the last census, which saw in turn a rise in population of the Borough. The majority of the population of the city lives in an area that is between the townships of Bay Shore, Garfield, and Ocean View.

The city of Totowa NJ has a number of industries. The largest industry is pharmaceutical, which is why a large percentage of the population is found in or around downtown Totowa. There are a number of large office buildings that house pharmaceutical companies. The next largest industry is the health care industry, which is why many people are found in or near the areas of Ocean View, Garfield, and Bay Shore. A number of retail outlets exist as well. A number of banks and large corporations have their own branches here in Totowa. A number of schools and hospitals are located here.
